Kingdom Transfer Guide
Moving kingdoms is one of the most consequential decisions in Kingshot. Done right, it lands you in a competitive environment where your alliance can dominate. Done wrong, you show up unshielded in a warzone. This guide covers how it all works.
What Is a Kingdom Transfer?
A kingdom transfer lets you move your entire city — troops, buildings, heroes, resources and all — to a different server. You choose a destination kingdom and your city arrives there as if you had been playing in that kingdom all along. Your alliance members stay behind on your old server unless they transfer too.
Reasons players transfer:
- Your original kingdom is dominated by a single whale alliance and everyone else is getting farmed
- Your kingdom consistently loses KvK because it's age-mismatched against older, more developed servers
- Your alliance is moving together to a fresh kingdom to dominate it from the start
- You want to join friends or a specific alliance on a different server
- Your home kingdom is dead — activity is low, no competitive events, nothing to fight for
Transfers are powerful but not free — they require a Kingdom Transfer Pass and must happen within specific windows.
Transfer Passes: How to Get Them
Kingdom Transfer Passes are the currency that enables a move. They are rare and valuable — don't waste one on an impulsive decision.
| Source | Notes |
|---|---|
| KvK Reward Chests | Highest tier KvK reward chests have a chance to contain a transfer pass. The single best regular source for active players. |
| Special Events | Century Games occasionally distributes transfer passes through limited-time events or gift codes. |
| In-Game Shop | Transfer passes appear in the shop periodically, purchasable with gems or real money. |
| Alliance Gifts | Very occasionally distributed through alliance gift events — watch your alliance gift log. |
When You Can Transfer: Windows & Restrictions
Kingdom transfers are only available during specific transfer windows. These windows open and close on a schedule tied to the global KvK cycle. You cannot transfer during an active Battle Phase or in the immediate run-up to one.
- Transfer Window: Open during the Recovery phase of the KvK cycle — typically the 7 days after Battle Phase ends
- Blocked During: Active Prep Phase and Battle Phase — you cannot transfer while KvK is live
- Power Cap: Some destination kingdoms have minimum or maximum power requirements. You must meet them to transfer in.
- Kingdom Age Bracket: You can generally only transfer to kingdoms within your age bracket (see below)
Kingdom Age Brackets
Kingdoms are grouped into age brackets based on how long they've been running. Transfers are restricted to kingdoms within a compatible bracket — you can generally move to kingdoms of similar or slightly newer age, but not to very new or very old kingdoms outside your range.
Age brackets also determine KvK matchmaking. A kingdom that's 6 months old will be matched against other 6-month kingdoms, not against 2-year-old kingdoms. This is why new players on very old servers are at such a disadvantage — their server is fighting other old servers, where everyone is years ahead on development.
When evaluating a destination kingdom, check its kingdom number (lower numbers were created earlier, higher numbers are newer). A significantly higher-numbered kingdom is newer and likely less developed — which can be good or bad depending on your goals.
How to Choose a Destination Kingdom
This is the most important part of a transfer. Arriving on the wrong server is worse than staying put.
| Factor | What to Look For |
|---|---|
| Power Distribution | Is there a single dominant whale alliance that controls everything? Or are there multiple competitive alliances roughly matched? Diversity = healthier server. |
| Your Alliance's Power Rank | If you're moving with your alliance, can you realistically compete for top 3 in the new kingdom? Transferring into a server where you'd be #8 is just trading one dead kingdom for another. |
| KvK History | Does the kingdom win KvK consistently, or does it lose regularly? Consistent losers fall behind on rewards. Check their KvK record if you can find it. |
| Activity Level | Are there players actively in the kingdom, building, gathering, fighting rebels? A quiet kingdom during normal hours is a dying kingdom. |
| Language / Timezone | Most kingdoms develop a dominant language or timezone. If your active hours don't overlap with the majority, you'll miss events and coordination. |
| Open Slots | Is there a strong alliance actively recruiting in your tier? Arriving with no alliance to join is a dangerous position on any server. |
Transfer Groups
A transfer group is a coordinated migration where an entire alliance — or a coalition of alliances — moves to the same new kingdom together at the same time. This is the most powerful way to transfer because you arrive with an established organization, known teammates, and enough collective power to immediately compete for the kingdom's top positions.
Transfer groups typically target a newer kingdom (within age bracket) that hasn't yet established a dominant power structure. The group arrives, claims alliance territory, captures ruins, and establishes control before the local alliances can respond.
- Organize around a transfer leader (R5 or R4) who scouts the target, picks the landing zone, and sets timing
- All members should arrive within the same transfer window — stragglers who arrive late enter a kingdom that may already be at war
- Coordinate with any friendly alliances already on the target server — arriving into a hostile reception is recoverable if you have allies, not if you're alone
- Shield immediately upon arrival until the group is assembled and your territory is established
Pre-Transfer Checklist
- Confirm you have a valid Kingdom Transfer Pass in your inventory
- Heal all wounded troops — you arrive with your hospital state intact, wounded and all
- Stock up on city shields — activate one the moment you land until your new alliance can protect you
- Carry enough resources to immediately retrain any troops lost in transit
- Leave your current alliance gracefully — your R4/R5 will need to fill your slot
- Have your destination kingdom number and coordinates confirmed in advance
- Coordinate timing with anyone else in your group transferring simultaneously
- Transfer during the recovery window, not at the edge of prep phase start
Transferring Farm Accounts
If you run farm accounts (alternate accounts used to funnel resources to your main), they each need their own transfer passes to move. This significantly increases the cost of a coordinated move with multiple farms.
Some players elect to leave farm accounts on the old server temporarily, continuing to gather resources there and mail them to the new kingdom via alliance gifts or other mechanics — though this becomes logistically awkward over time. The cleanest solution is to transfer all accounts simultaneously, but this requires a stockpile of passes.
