Town & Buildings Guide
Every system in Kingshot gates off your Town Center level. This is the guide other sites don't have — a complete breakdown of what every building does and what order to build it in.
The Town Center — Your Master Building
The Town Center is the most important building in your city. Its level directly determines:
- The maximum level of every other building
- The troop tiers you can train (T10 unlocks at TC 30)
- The number of march slots available (more TC = more simultaneous marches)
- Your overall power and how you're perceived in alliance matchmaking
Upgrading the Town Center should be your near-constant focus, especially in the first 60 days. Everything else is secondary.
Key Town Center Milestones
| TC Level | What Unlocks |
|---|---|
| TC 10 | Second march slot — doubles your gathering and attack capacity |
| TC 15 | Third march slot — enables farm account strategy |
| TC 20 | Higher-tier research in the Academy, access to T8 troops |
| TC 24 | Resource cost spike begins — stock up before pushing this level |
| TC 25 | Alliance event participation thresholds reached for most leagues |
| TC 30 | T10 troop unlock — major power milestone, changes your competitive viability |
| TC 35+ | End-game War Academy research, T11 troop path opens |
Building Types & What They Do
Resource Buildings
| Building | Resource | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sawmill | Wood | Build multiple — wood is consumed constantly for construction |
| Farm | Food | Troops consume food while training and marching — keep farms upgraded |
| Quarry | Stone | Heavy mid-game building material; upgrade alongside Town Center progression |
| Iron Mine | Iron | Critical for late-game troop training and research; often bottleneck past TC 20 |
| Gold Mine | Gold | Gold fuels hero and gear upgrades — always keep mines running |
Military Buildings
| Building | Function | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Barracks | Train Infantry troops. Each Barracks adds a training queue. | High — build 2–3 early |
| Stable | Train Cavalry troops. | Medium — 1–2 is enough until mid-game |
| Archery Range | Train Archer troops. | High — Archers are your primary damage dealers |
| Hospital | Heals wounded troops after battle. Without enough Hospital capacity, dead troops are lost permanently. | Critical — always match Hospital capacity to your army size |
| War Academy | Unlocks high-tier troop research and T11 progression. | Late-game milestone building |
Defense & Economy Buildings
| Building | Function | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Storehouse | Protects a portion of your resources from being plundered. | Keep upgraded — resources above the protection cap are always vulnerable |
| Wall | Provides defense bonuses when your city is attacked. | Upgrade alongside TC for consistent defense scaling |
| Academy | Unlocks and executes Research across Growth, Economy, and Battle trees. | One of the most impactful buildings — keep research queues running |
| Hero Hall | Houses heroes, enables recruitment, and tracks hero progress. | Upgrade to increase hero capacity and unlock roulette options |
| Embassy | Allows alliance members to reinforce your city and sends help requests. | Important for garrison-focused players and alliance wars |
Building Priority Order
You have limited builder queues and limited resources. This is the general priority order that maximizes your progress rate:
- Town Center — always the highest priority. Upgrade it whenever you can.
- Academy — research runs passively and compounds over time. Keep it leveled and always researching.
- Hospital — if your Hospital can't hold your wounded troops, dead troops are gone forever. This is a silent killer for under-prepared players.
- Barracks & Archery Range — more queues = faster army growth. Build 2–3 of each.
- Resource Buildings — Sawmill and Farm are the early bottlenecks. Upgrade Iron Mine and Quarry later when construction demands shift.
- Wall & Storehouse — upgrade these in parallel with your TC to maintain proportional defense and resource protection.
- Everything else — Embassy, Stable, Hero Hall can wait until the higher-priority buildings are caught up.
Queue Management Tips
- Always have both builders queued. An idle builder is wasted time. Queue the next-lowest-level building if your main target is on cooldown.
- Queue buildings, not upgrades. If you're waiting on resources for a major upgrade, queue smaller buildings in the meantime to keep builders busy.
- Save speed-ups for events. Construction events multiply the rewards from completed builds. A 1-hour build done during a construction event can earn 3× the event points of the same build done outside one.
- Use alliance help. Clicking "Request Help" on a building upgrade lets alliance members reduce the construction time. Each help from an alliance member removes a chunk of build time. Maximize this daily.
- Don't over-build resource tiles. After about 3 Sawmills and 3 Farms, the incremental yield drops off. Your farm account gatherers will outpace any number of Mines in your city.
