Elden Ring Builds — Patch 1.16 Meta

Six complete builds — Sorcerer, Faith Caster, Bleed, Strength, Dexterity, and Arcane. Stat targets, weapon recommendations, and what makes each build tick.

Patch 1.16 · Covers base game + Shadow of the Erdtree · June 2026

Build Tier Overview (Patch 1.16)

All builds listed here are viable for the entire game including Shadow of the Erdtree. Tier primarily reflects ease of execution and ceiling damage potential, not absolute fun — the "weakest" build here can still clear all content. Pick based on how you want fights to feel, not the tier letter.

Build 1 — Intelligence Sorcerer

The signature WizardsTower build. Full breakdown in the Mage Build guide. Summary here for comparison.

Primary weapons: Carian Regal Scepter +10, Meteorite Staff (offhand for Rock Sling). Core spells: Rock Sling, Terra Magica, Comet Azur, Stars of Ruin, Ranni's Dark Moon. Spirit Ash: Black Knife Tiche or Mimic Tear.

Build 2 — Bleed (Rivers of Blood)

One of the most consistently powerful and beginner-accessible builds in the game. When hemorrhage (bleed) procs, it deals a percentage of the enemy's max HP as burst damage — scaling naturally against bosses with large HP pools. Rivers of Blood is the pinnacle weapon: its Corpse Piler skill fires forward bleed-applying slashes at extremely low FP cost.

StatTarget (Level 150)
Vigor60
Arcane60 (scales Rivers of Blood bleed)
Dexterity40 (Rivers of Blood requirement + scaling)
Endurance25 (dual weapon equip load)
Mind20

Primary weapons: Rivers of Blood +10 (main hand), Eleonora's Poleblade +10 (offhand for dual bleed). Spirit Ash: Mimic Tear (also applies bleed). Talismans: Lord of Blood's Exultation (+20% attack when bleed nearby), Millicent's Prosthesis (Dex/stacking buff). Weakness: does not work on enemies immune to bleed (Elden Beast, ghost-type enemies).

Build 3 — Faith Caster (Dragon Communion)

Faith builds wield incantations — the counterpart to sorcery. Incantations include healing, buffs, lightning strikes, holy bolts, and the Dragon Communion tier which requires Dragon Hearts and includes some of the highest-damage abilities in the game (Dragonfire, Rotten Breath, Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike).

Mind35
Endurance20

Sacred seal: Dragon Communion Seal +25 (scales incantations with both FTH and ARC), Golden Order Seal (for pure Golden Order incantations). Best damage incantations: Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike, Placidusax's Ruin (endgame), Rotten Breath (100% uptime poison + rot on most bosses). Utility: Bestial Vitality (regen), Golden Vow (party attack/defense buff), Flame, Grant Me Strength (+20% physical and fire damage).

Build 4 — Strength (Greatsword / Colossals)

Strength builds wield Greatswords, Greataxes, and Colossal weapons — slow, heavy hits that deal enormous damage per swing and stagger enemies on poise break. The trade-off is slow attack speed; you will whiff and get punished if you misread attack windows. The reward is that a staggered boss is a dead boss.

StatTarget (Level 150)
Vigor60
Strength60 (soft cap; 80 for absolute ceiling)
Endurance40 (armor + weapon equip load; sustain multiple swings)
Mind15 (just enough for Ashes of War)

Best weapons: Greatsword +25 with Heavy infusion (classic; available from a chest in Caelid), Giant-Crusher +25 (highest Strength AR in game), Starscourge Greatsword +10 (Radahn remembrance, gravity skill). Ash of War: Lion's Claw (flipkick into overhead slam — massive poise damage, staggers almost anything). Talisman: Erdtree's Favor +2, Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman (physical absorption).

Build 5 — Dexterity (Uchigatana / Katana)

Dexterity builds use fast weapons — katanas, curved swords, twinblades — to deal rapid hits, quickly build bleed/frostbite, and exploit short boss openings that Strength builds can't fit attacks into. Dex also reduces sorcery/incantation cast times slightly, making it excellent for hybrid builds.

StatTarget (Level 150)
Vigor55
Dexterity60–70
Endurance25–30
Mind20

Best weapons: Uchigatana +25 with Keen affinity (starts with Samurai class; strong from level 1 through endgame), Moonveil +10 (INT/DEX hybrid — Transient Moonlight skill), Hand of Malenia +10 (Malenia remembrance; highest DEX scaling in game). Ash of War: Bloodhound's Step (invincibility frames during dodge, strong vs. fast bosses). Infusion recommendation: Keen for pure Dex, Occult for Arcane hybrid builds.

Build 6 — Arcane (Bleed + Dragon)

Arcane is the most unusual main stat — it boosts item discovery (rare drop rates), scales Arcane-infused weapons, and enables the Dragon Communion incantation line. High Arcane builds have the highest possible bleed buildup (Occult infusion on any weapon adds bleed independently of DEX) and access to the Dragon Communion seals.

StatTarget (Level 150)
Vigor55
Arcane60–80
Dexterity30 (weapon requirements)
Faith15–25 (Dragon incantation requirements)
Endurance20

Best weapons: Rivers of Blood +10 (highest bleed AR with Arcane), Cross-Naginata with Occult infusion (spear range with bleed), Reduvia +10 (early-game starter, fast dagger bleed). Key talisman: Lord of Blood's Exultation. Key buff: Flame, Grant Me Strength. Trade-off: The Occult infusion adds bleed to weapons that don't naturally have it — this is the most powerful bleed setup in the game but requires understanding infusion mechanics.
