The Guides Avowed Checklist

Completionist Checklist

Everything you can miss, zone by zone. Spoilers are marked. Use this before leaving each zone — Avowed does not let you revisit most areas after the main story passes them.

How to Use This Guide

Avowed has a linear zone progression — Dawnshore → Emerald Stair → Sacred Stair → Shatterscarp → The Outer Edge. Once the main story advances you past a zone, most of its side content becomes inaccessible. A handful of quests lock before that, tied to specific story beats within each zone.

Work through each zone section below before advancing the main quest. Items marked [MISSABLE] have a hard lock point. Items marked [CHOICE] are mutually exclusive with another option in the same playthrough.

Achievement Overview

Avowed has 43 achievements on PC (Steam/Xbox). Most unlock naturally through story progression. The ones that require deliberate effort or specific choices are listed below.

Zone 1 — Dawnshore

Dawnshore is the largest zone and the most forgiving — but it has the earliest missable content in the game. The first major quest decision (the Aedyran Administrator) locks several side quests the moment you make your choice.

Zone 3 — Sacred Stair

Sacred Stair is the lore-heaviest zone and contains the most Godlike-specific content. If you are a Moon or Death Godlike, the optional temple sequence here has unique dialogue not available elsewhere.

ItemLocationStatus

Zone 4 — Shatterscarp

Shatterscarp is the most dangerous zone for completionists because the main quest advances very quickly and several side quests share NPCs with main quest nodes. Do every side marker before touching the main quest beacon.

ItemLocationStatus
Complete "The Fractured Vein"Mining camp, north Shatterscarp[MISSABLE] — mining camp NPC departs after main quest triggers; quest fails
Companion talk: Yatzli (Shatterscarp)Rest at any Shatterscarp camp, mid-zone[MISSABLE for Companion achievement] — only available in this zone

Discover the deep passageMineshaft level 3, requires key from "The Fractured Vein"[MISSABLE] — contains final unique equipment piece before The Outer Edge

Zone 5 — The Outer Edge

The Outer Edge is endgame content. Side quests here are fewer but more significant — several affect the final ending state. Complete them all before entering the final dungeon. There is a clear "point of no return" prompt from the game; do not dismiss it without having finished all side content.

ItemLocationStatus
Final companion talks (all 4)Camp at Outer Edge outpost before final dungeon[MISSABLE] — these are the last companion dialogue events before ending
Adra Fragments #10–12Outer Edge ruins, three locations[MISSABLE] — all lock at point-of-no-return

Resolve the Aedyran officerOuter Edge command tent — affects ending narration[CHOICE] — spare vs. confront changes faction ending slide
Find Watcher's Seal (unique ring)Hidden room inside final dungeon, before boss chamberAvailable until point-of-no-return
Point of no return: When the game presents the "You are about to enter the final confrontation" prompt, all side content is permanently locked. This is not gradual — it is a hard wall. Save before accepting this prompt and make sure your checklist is complete.

Companion Affinity — What Reduces It

The Companion of the Realm achievement requires max affinity with all four companions in a single playthrough. The following choices cause permanent, unrecoverable affinity losses — avoid them if you're targeting this achievement.

CompanionAffinity-Reducing ChoiceZone
KaiSiding with the Aedyran Administrator without negotiating a compromise; dismissing his concerns about the harbor workersDawnshore
MariusReporting the deserter camp location to Aedyran forces; accepting gold to betray a contact during the Shatterscarp faction questEmerald Stair / Shatterscarp
GiattaUsing aggressive Intimidation on the Sacred Stair healer NPC; dismissing her concerns during the mid-game camp conversationSacred Stair
YatzliInterrupting her casting ritual in Shatterscarp; choosing the Empire-aligned ending path in the Outer EdgeShatterscarp / Outer Edge

Adra Fragments are the primary input for Luminous Adra pool charges (attribute respecs). Collecting all 22 gives you enough material to respec twice on a single playthrough — valuable on PotD where you may need to correct attribute allocation after learning what the game actually demands.
