Strategy: Saul is the only Legendary hero whose value doesn't fully evaporate once you've outgrown him for combat. Resourceful's +15% Construction Speed and -15% Construction Cost apply whether he's leading a rally or sitting on a builder march, so the investment you put into him keeps paying off in a completely different part of the game long after Marlin, Jaeger, or Vivian have taken over his old job as your Archer lead. Most heroes become dead weight once replaced; Saul just changes jobs. While he's still your combat Archer, Rapid Fire's multi-hit barrage stunning for two seconds gives him respectable, reliable early-game crowd control, and Final Prayer's +150% Defense below 50% Health is one of the largest defensive spikes on any hero in the early roster — bigger, proportionally, than the below-50% bonuses on heroes like Long Fei or Amadeus, though it only covers Defense rather than damage reduction and Attack together. Skill priority: Rapid Fire first for the stun and damage, Final Prayer second for the survivability spike, Superior Techniques third for the Attack Speed. Use him as your Archer lead until Marlin, Jaeger, or Vivian arrives — he's the correct default there. But don't fully bench him once you've moved on: keep him on a dedicated gathering or construction march afterward so Resourceful keeps contributing. He's one of the only heroes in the game you never really have to say goodbye to.
